Yidam is Varun Desai’s projection of electronic ambient and chillout music. Manipulating and producing sounds since the mid-nineties, Varun’s habit of digging for eclectic music and playing in diverse spaces resulted in focusing on downtempo electronica and performing at alternative festival stages and unconventional venues.
Gigging in the midwest United States in the early 2000s resulted in the formation of ChillUmafia DJ collective with DJs Damon & Robyo in 2005. Later years were spent managing a record label (DBR), researching and experimenting with sound-healing technology & organising events in NYC and Chicago.

After performing at Burning Man in 2008, Varun moved back to Kolkata where he started a net-label (liquidfrequency.com), a culture and event company (littlei.in) and a production studio. His DJ sets and tracks have been heard in India, Nepal, Thailand, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey and at global gatherings like the Boom Festival in Portugal.
A background in electronics has also resulted his involvement in the development of analog synthesizers, digital controllers and interactive video as part of collaboration projects with jazz musicians and live electronic acts.

Album Concept:

It is year 2102. An intergalactic sonic research laboratory - Nādāsana - has launched their first sonic space probe mission into the majestic galaxy, Messier 31 - The Andromeda Galaxy.

Following the example of the golden record of NASA’s Voyager project which was led by Dr Carl Sagan(1934-1996), Nādāsana has curated fine ambient music pieces to establish contact with sensory conscious beings in outer space through sounds created on planet Earth.
Nādāsana considers ambient music to be music of evolutive creation, encouraging inclusiveness through time and space. Doing so, it opens a poetic and spiritual sphere of music for consideration which could offer a glimpse of the hidden stream of the eternal sonic creations of the universe. Nādāsana is an experiment to uncover the ancient mystery of AUM – Everything is Sound.

NOTE: This project is an imaginary concept (as of 2022). The selection of music can be highly biased, however Nādāsana’s love to music is honest and genuine.
